Meeting: 2024 International Congress

Abstract Number: 497

Keywords: Parkinson’s, Scales

Category: Rating Scales

Objective: : To identify whether depression in patients with IPDWD correlates with different types of behavioral symptoms.

Background: Depression is considered a frequent neuropsychiatric pathology in IPDWD, characterized by symptoms of sadness, handicap, low tolerance to frustration and inability to make decisions, affecting the worsening of the quality of life of people with this diagnosis.

Method: The research work presents a cross-sectional design, with a descriptive study type, the sample consists of a group of 50 patients diagnosed with IPDWD, with a mean age of 64.85 years and with an age younger than 12 years at diagnosis. For depressive symptomatology the ESDEPARK (Parkinson’s disease specific depression scale in the process of validation) and the Neuropsychiatric Inventory NPI were used for behavioral symptoms.

Results: Preliminary results obtained by the ESDEPARK show that patients with IPDWD present significant differences in the depression section of the NPI (Rho= ,022; p= 002), anxiety (Rho= ,238; p= 001), disinhibition (Rho= ,126; p= ,041) and irritability (Rho= ,174; p= 0.036).

Conclusion: The ESDEPARK IPDWD-specific depression scale in its preliminary results shows high consistency and reliability in identifying behavioral signs in patients with this diagnosis.
