Meeting: 2024 International Congress

Abstract Number: 498

Keywords: Parkinson’s, Scales

Category: Rating Scales

Objective: To identify whether depressive symptomatology in patients with IPDWD correlates with visuospatial and/or visuoconstructive alterations

Background: Visuospatial functioning and/or visuoconstructive skills are a cognitive domain that is often affected in IPDWD patients, associated with signs and symptoms of depression that contribute to the worsening of patients’ quality of life.

Method: The research presents a cross-sectional design, with a descriptive study type, the sample consists of a group of 50 patients diagnosed with IPDWD, with a mean age of 64.85 years and with an age younger than 12 years at diagnosis. For depressive symptomatology we used the ESDEPARK (Parkinson’s disease specific depression scale in the process of validation) and for visuospatial functioning, the Clock section of the Parkinson’s Disease Cognitive Rating Scale (PD-CRS).

Results: Preliminary results obtained by the ESDEPARK show that patients with PD-CRS present significant differences in the clock test section to the order (Rho= -.129; p= 037) and not to the copy (Rho= -0.28; p= ,652).

Conclusion: Preliminary results of the ESDEPARK IPDWD-specific depression scale show high consistency and reliability to identify visuospatial and visuoconstructive disturbances in patients with IPDWD.
