Meeting: 2026 International Congress

Keywords: Non-motor Scales, Parkinson’s

Category: Parkinson's Disease: Epidemiology, Phenomenology, Clinical Assessment, Rating Scales

Objective: This study aims to validate the Hebrew version of the MDS-NMS and make it suitable for use in Hebrew speaking population

Background: Parkinson’s disease is a complex neurodegenerative disease with motor and non-motor manifestations. The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society Non-Motor Rating Scale (MDS-NMS) is widely used to assess non-motor manifestations and their severity.

Method: Methods: This cross-sectional study enrolled native Hebrew-speaking PD patients. We conducted a meticulous translation process into Hebrew, including forward-backward translation, reconciliation, cognitive pretesting, and validation. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) were conducted to evaluate the psychometric properties and structural validity of the Hebrew version in comparison to the original English version. Tertiary analyses assessed the acceptability and reliability of domain scores within the cohort.

Results: The scale was validated in 300 native Hebrew-speaking PD patients. CFA confirmed that the Hebrew version maintained a factor structure consistent with the English original, with Comparative Fit Index (CFI) values meeting or exceeding the 0.90 threshold across all subscales.

Conclusion: The Hebrew version of the MDS-NMS demonstrates strong validity and reliability and may serve as a standard tool for assessing NMS in Hebrew-speaking PD patients.
