Objective: To describe changes in health-related quality of life (QoL), assessed using the 8-item Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-8), in people with advanced Parkinson’s disease (aPD) receiving LECIG infusion in routine clinical practice for up to two years, using interim data from the ELEGANCE study (NCT05043103).
Background: From a clinical standpoint, LECIG infusion has been shown to effectively reduce motor fluctuations and treatment burden in aPD, but its impact on daily functioning and wellbeing also needs to be understood from the patient’s perspective. ELEGANCE prospectively collects real-world data on effectiveness, safety and patient-reported outcomes (PRO) of LECIG administered via the Crono® pump, including serial PDQ-8 assessments of QoL.
Method: ELEGANCE is an international, non-interventional study enrolling adults with aPD treated with LECIG in routine care. In this interim analysis, PDQ-8 scores were evaluated in all patients with data from baseline (Visit [V] 1) through V5, representing up to two years of treatment (data cut: February 2026). Mean domain scores, PDQ-8 total score and PDQ-8 index (0–40 and 0–100; lower scores indicate better QoL) were recorded at each visit.
Results: At V1, mean PDQ-8 domain scores ranged from 0.95–2.51 (Figure 1), with mean total and index scores of 14.68 and 45.87, respectively (n=203; Table 1). By V2, improvements were seen across all domains, as well as for total and index scores. These gains were broadly maintained at V3 and V4. At V5, mean individual domain scores remained on average numerically lower than baseline, also mean total and index scores were both lower than baseline, indicating LECIG treatment sustained QoL for up to two years.
Conclusion: This interim analysis suggests LECIG infusion is associated with clinically meaningful and durable improvements in QoL, with the greatest gains observed soon after initiation and a sustained advantage at V5. Ongoing follow-up in ELEGANCE will clarify the longer-term trajectory of PRO with LECIG treatment.
