Meeting: 2018 International Congress

Abstract Number: 1818

Keywords: Dyskinesias, Parkinsonism

Session Information

Date: Monday, October 8, 2018

Session Title: Rating Scales

Session Time: 1:15pm-2:45pm

Location: Hall 3FG

Objective: To analyze the Unified Dyskinesia Rating Scale (UDysRS) scores on Historical, Objective parts and their differences based on age, Parkinson´s disease (PD) and dyskinesias duration in a large cohort of patients with PD.

Background: The UDysRS was developed as a rating tool of dyskinesia in Parkinson´s disease (PD). Differences in scores across gender, education, age groups, PD and dyskinesias duration have not been fully described.

Methods: Design: Observational, cross-sectional, multicenter, international study. Demographic, education and UDysRS subscores (Historical and Objective parts) and Total score (sum of Historical and Objective parts) were collected. Subscores (Historical, Objective) and Total Score were compared for gender, education, and in 5-year increments in age, PD and dyskinesia duration, respectively. Lineal regression analysis and adjustment for multiple comparisons were also performed.

Results: The mean age of the 2113 patients was 66.3 + 10.2 years, 51.2 % were women, college education (24.3%), and the mean PD duration was 11.3 + 6.0, and median dyskinesias duration of 4 (2;8) years. Whereas Historical, Objective and Total scores were similar across education, gender and age groups, for 5-year increments in PD and dyskinesias duration, subscores (Historical, Objective) and Total Scores increased significantly (p <0.0001), by an average increase per year of 0.5; 0.6 points [Historical part], 0.4;0.4 points [Objective part] and 1.0; 1.1 points [Total score], respectively.

Conclusions: The UDysRS scores increase significantly with 5-year increments of PD and dyskinesias duration, indicating adequate validity for capturing score differences.
