Role and significance of C-reactive protein in stages of Parkinson’s disease

R. Matmurodov, S. Jumanazarova, H. Daminova, K. Khalimova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan)

Meeting: 2026 International Congress

Keywords: Dopaminergic neurons, Immunosuppression, Parkinson’s

Category: Parkinson's Disease (Other)

Objective: To сomparative analysis of the amount of CRP in the blood serum of patients according to the stages of PD.

Background: C-reactive protein (CRP) is a general inflammatory marker that provides information about the coexistence of systemic and central inflammation in Parkinson disease (PD).

Method: A total of 124 patients with PD were examined. The control group consisted of 20 patients of the same age without PD. The average disease duration was 6.8±4.2 years. The amount of CRP was determined by IFA

Results: According to the results of the study group distribution, a gradual increase in the level of C-reactive protein (CRP) was observed in stages 1-3 of Parkinson’s disease. In stage 1 – (27.22 pg/ml), in stage 2 – (30.24 pg/ml), in stage 3 – (33.26 pg/ml), p≤0.001. This trend indicates that the inflammatory process intensifies during the progression of the disease. CRP is a general marker of inflammation, the increase of which indicates the activity of chronic neuroinflammatory reactions in the central nervous system. In advanced stages of Parkinson’s disease, the increase in CRP levels is associated with the intensity of the inflammatory process, which indicates the need to use anti-inflammatory directions in pathogenetic treatment strategies.

Conclusion: In patients with PD, serum protein concentrations are higher in the late stages than in the early stages of the disease, and this may serve as a nonspecific predictor of severity. SRO monitoring is important in evaluating the course of the disease and the effectiveness of treatment.
