Objective: To study the severity of PD in clinical forms.
Background: Apathy is one of the most common symptoms in Parkinson’s disease (PD), which can be observed in up to 80%.
Method: 112 patients with PD were examined. Patients were divided into 3 groups, group 1 akinetic-rigid form 36, tremor form 38 and mixed form – 38. The average age of the patients was 62.5±4.5, the average duration of the disease was 6.5±3.7 years. The severity of apathy was assessed using the Lilli Apathy Rating Scale (LARS). The control group consisted of 20 patients without PD. Statistical analysis found p≤0.001 to be reliable.
Results: 9 points were allocated on the LARS scale, totaling 36 points. between 36 and 21 suggesting the absence of apathy, between 21 and 16 suggesting mild apathy, between 16 and 9 indicating moderate apathy, and above 9 indicating severe apathy. In patients with PD, it was 13.6±4.5 points, while in the control group it was 19.8±6.6. When comparing the clinical forms of the disease, severe apathy was observed in the tremor form, 8.5±3.5 points, relatively mild apathy was observed in the clinical form 17.3±6.2 points, and in the mixed form 14.2±5.5 points, a reliable difference p≤0.001. The manifestations of apathy were compared, severe cases according to “Daily activity” and “Life in the community” in the form of tremors observed.
Conclusion: The degree of severity of apathy in Parkinson’s disease depends on the clinical forms of the disease, severe apathy is manifested in the tremor form, and this apathy differs differentially in appearance.
