Background: The Parkinson’s Patients Support Organization Ethiopia (PPSO-E) implemented a training program for 341 PD patients over the course of one year, from November 2023 to September 2024. The goal was to improve participants’ skills in managing their condition and coping with its challenges

Results: Two hundred eighty-nine PD patients (85%) exhibited significant improvements in their self-management and coping skills after they participated in the training. Qualitative insights indicated the training has greatly transformed the experiences and quality of life of PD patients which is demonstrated by significant improvements in the understanding of PD, better management of symptoms, and enhanced emotional well-being.

Conclusion: The findings of the study suggest that self-management and coping skills training has effectively enhances the well-being of PD patients. The findings further demonstrated the vital role of training programs focused on soft skills in improving the quality of life of individuals with PD, particularly in settings with limited resources.
