Objective: To determine impact of Occupational Therapy for patients with Parkinson’s disease in the context of Bangladesh.

Background: Patients with Parkinson’s disease are always at risk of developing physical and functional disability. Methods: This is a mixed method study. Researcher collected qualitative data through face to face in depth interview from 10 participants, using purposive sampling and collected quantitative data using structured questionnaire regarding their improvement rate (pre & post treatment phase) from 150 participants. Qualitative data was analyzed using content analysis and quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis.

Results: Functional level of patients was analyzed using FIM scale (Functional Independent Measure). Out of 150 participants, 20% need maximum assistance, 40% need moderate assistance and 40% need supervision or, assistive device to perform functional tasks. Most of the patient’s caregivers are satisfied with the Occupational Therapists for improving self-care, productivity & leisure performance of their patients.

Conclusions: Occupational Therapy plays an important role to improve functional status of people with Parkinson’s disease in the context of Bangladesh.
