Meeting: 2024 International Congress

Abstract Number: 505

Keywords: Gait disorders: Treatment, Motor control, Multidisciplinary Approach

Category: Allied Healthcare Professionals

Objective: To find out the Therapeutic effects of PNF techniques versus standard physiotherapy exercise on diaphragmatic muscle activity in in the treatment young onsets of Parkinson’s survivors

Background: Young onsets of Parkinson’s Survivors is extrapyramidal system disorder. This disorder which characterized by motor symptoms including bradykinesia, hypokinesia, rigidity and tremor problems with gait start to occur in early stages of the disease characteristic impairments include an asymmetrically reduced or absent arm swing a stopped posture an asymmetrical step size and difficulties. turning around in the standing or recumbent positions, as the disease progresses, the gait patterns becomes slower and the typical parkinsonian gait develops with shuffling and short steps and impaired motor control.

Method: The methodology consist of  20 YOPD were selected who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were consecutively assigned into two equal groups. PNFDMAG undergone Diaphragm muscle activity Techniques and SPG undergone Standard physiotherapy exercise. The outcome used in this study 6minutes walk test & Self-assessment parkinson’s disease disability scale with total duration 4 weeks/ 1 session / day with 30 minutes.

Results: Results shows that PNFDMA ADL baseline score is 76.3 post intervention score is 46.5 P<0.5.Standard Physiotherapy score is ADL baseline score is 75.4 post intervention score is 55.4,P<0.5.

Conclusion: The investigator who concluded that the tailored made intervention mainly endurance and activities of daily living improved significantly. But The statistical analysis which supports PNF diaphragm technique is better form treatment in endurance and activities of daily living in young onset of parkinson’s survivors than standard physiotherapy.
